In what way are abortion and HOV lanes related? This way.

It seems a pregnant woman was pulled over for driving in an HOV lane where she was the only person visible in her car. She told the cop she was pregnant, so there were two people in the car. The case is going to court.

It's pretty simple to relate to abortion. If that fetus counts as a person for HOV status, then abortion is murder. If the fetus doesn't count, then abortion isn't murder. You have to be consistent, and those are the only two options that are consistent in the law.

So where do you stand with this?
You claim to be a libertarian, but sometimes I think your conservative politics (and the fact that you're male, no doubt) block your ability to consider what liberty is depending on who it applies to. That's not the basis of believing in freedom; it's telling people how to live their lives based on what you believe.

Either way, this lady is either another wack pro-lifer who didn't have time to go blow up an abortion clinic (thus killing everyone inside; ironic, no?) or she was trying to talk her way out of a ticket.

I'm pro-choice. My whole point of mentioning it was that people on both sides are hypocrites, not that I have a stance one way or the other.

You have to be consistent. If abortion is murder, then the woman should be able to use her unborn baby as a second passenger for the HOV lane.

I suppose I should also say that I think parental notification for abortions for girls under 18 is reasonable. You have to get parental notification to get an earring, but abortion is no big deal? I think that sends the wrong message. Abortion, though it should remain an option, shouldn't be as easy as buying a decongestant, in my opinion.
