Over on another blog someone was pointing out that if only Bush had spent more money on the levees, then everything would be ok. A reader pointed out that Bush spent more than Clinton had on Army Corps projects in the area (I don't actually know if that's true, it doesn't matter for this point), and the blogger responded that comparisons to Clinton are irrelevent. How exactly is that irrelevent? I mean if you are going to find someone to blame, you can't just single out one random person who did nothing different than anyone else, and say it's their fault. The logic people sometimes use to attack Bush is ridiculous.

You may find this interesting. Seems plans to beef up the New Orleans levees were thwarted by lawsuits from environmental groups.

I know. Let's blame the environmentalists. It's really their fault.

I agree on your example of poor logic Ben. I also agree on your example of poor logic, Mike. Oh wait, you were serious?

I just linked the article, Scorcho. I didn't draw any conclusions. I was just pointing out the fact that environmental groups brought up lawsuits to block the levees. You can draw your own conclusions.

Are you saying you deny the fact these lawsuits were filed? I didn't look it up myself, but I'm assuming if the columnist wanted to keep his job and retain any ounce of credibility he did so before he wrote the article.

Mike is actually right on this one. I read about the Sierra Club suing in 1996 to stop the Army Corps of Engineers from doing any leevee work because of its potential adverse effect on the environment.
