This is cut and pasted straight from Powerline.

"Ted Kennedy isn't just oblivious to old history, the Senator also seems to be in a fog with respect to the more recent stuff. Six years ago, for example, he urged the recess appointment of Bill Lann Lee to the top civil rights post at the Department of Justice. Republicans, who constituted a majority of the Senate, were blocking Lee because of his advocacy of racial quotas. According to the Washington Times of November 5, 1999, Kennedy stated, "I have long urged recess appointments to break this logjam -- this irresponsible, unconstitutional Republican leadership position which fails to give people their due and fails to meet the constitutional standard.” President Clinton eventually gave Lee a recess appointment.

Today, however, Kennedy finds the recess appointment of John Bolton, who was backed by a clear majority of Senators, to be "a devious maneuver that evades the constitutional requirement of Senate consent." Is Kennedy's memory impaired or does he just not care what he says?"

The only reason he's able to do this is because he knows, in his contempt for the common man, that he can say stuff like this and only a few right wingers are going to realize his hypocrisy. No one else will ever know, or care. Same with Howard Dean's lie about the Kelo case the other day. The small number of people who will be upset at him are far outnumbered by the ignorant masses he claims to represent who will hear and believe what he says, and never know that he is deliberately lying in order to gain power for his party and make the GOP look bad.
