Cut and pasted from Boortz, tlaking about his book signing:
"By the way ... a Marine came through the line, just four days back from Iraq. I asked him what we could be doing over there that we're not doing. His answer was immediate: "Keep the media out." He told us that what he sees on television here bears no real resemblance to what is actually going on over there. Interesting."
Now I don't agree with keeping the media out, but getting the full story would be nice. It seems like 90% of returnees from the military in Iraq say stuff like this guy, and the other 10% are hardcore Bush-haters who seemed to have gone over there to find evidence to support an agenda, like the guy that used his vet status to try to win an election in Ohio, running on the "I Hate Bush" ticket. He lost.
When will the Democrats get it? The reason they don't have the Presidency or control of the house or senate is because the majority of the country is not on their side. They are not mainstream, as they continue to maintain. If they were mainstream, then Kerry would be in the Oval Office, not Bush.

Actually, right now, the majority of people in America are not happy about the war. Bush has the lowest ratings he's had since he stole (I mean won) the presidency. I've posted this on smileyweb, but I'll post it here too (the msnbc link is dead):
"Nearly three-quarters of Americans say the number of casualties in Iraq is unacceptable, while two-thirds say the U.S. military there is bogged down and nearly six in 10 say the war was not worth fighting -- in all three cases matching or exceeding the highest levels of pessimism yet recorded. More than four in 10 believe the U.S. presence in Iraq is becoming analogous to the experience in Vietnam."
As far as the war is concerned, the majority of the country is not on Bush's side. Get your facts straight.
Maybe if the media printed more than just who died, people would have a clearer picture, and might feel differently. Anyway, I got my facts straight. Bush won the election, not the Kerry. There was no stealing, and more voter fraud has pointed at Democrats than at Republicans.
"The deadly recent attacks on American troops in Iraq are increasing the pressure on President Bush to develop an exit strategy. The U.S. death toll from the war is now over 1,800, and a new AP-Ipsos poll shows the lowest approval yet for Bush’s handling of Iraq, just 38 percent."

You can't dance around that.
A poll that measures public opinion, wow! Now you've changed my mind!
If 38% approve, that means there's 62% left. At least 20% of those don't care, I'm sure, so basically we're even on who is in favor and who is not. Since the media isn't telling people the whole story, we can assume that some of those people would be favorable if they knew the actual facts, so I'd say Bush is doing ok. Besides, you act like everyone has to do exactly what an unofficial public poll says. Our country would be in sad shape if Presidents based all their decisions on that.
Another funny thing, before the war we heard all about the tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of American troops that were going to die because of the invasion. 1,800 would have been seen as a ridiculous, unrealistic pipe dream. Turns out 1,800 is about right, but you've changed the goalpost. Thankfully we had those 1,800 men who volunteered to fight for their country and to sacrifice themselves if necessary to stand up for freedom.
