Crazy story about people with guns. Bitter custody battle, man waits at courthouse for wife and kid with an AK-47, and starts shooting when they show. Wife dies, but when man is about to kill son, a bystander with a gun starts shooting, gets killed, but stops man from killing son.
The father obviously had planned this ahead of time, so even if guns were banned, he could have probably gotten one. The man that stopped the guy from shooting his father was only able to do so because he had a gun. If guns were banned, then the bad guy would have finished killing his fmaily and probably some other people long before the cops showed up to stop him. This is why banning guns is a bad idea.

Ben, I have to say - I know you draw some offbeat conclusions sometimes, but to state that the moral of this sick story is that banning guns is a bad idea - weird.
Plus, what exactly did this guy Wilson accomplish? He traded his life for the guy's son. Net lives=0. Plus, now the kid'll be fucked up for the rest of his life anyway. Woo! Go guns!
I never said it was THE moral, just a moral. And a guy who has lived a full life traded it for someone who has only lived to his 20's. By the way, this kid is already an adult, so maybe he won't be as screwed up as you think. Add to that that the psycho may have killed a lot more people had he been allowed to continue. And what a great world it would be wherre only the cops and the criminal have guns! I know whenever I have called the police the response was very slow. In Britain if your house is robbed and you fight back and hurt the robber, they will charge you with assault. They encourage people to give home robbers whatever they want and not resist. This has led to a HUGE increase in home robberies, and in people who are robbed getting hurt. Just think if the government instead said, "Ok, if you are being robbed, be sure to have a gun on hand and protect yourself." Crime would plummet.
I'm all for a 7 day waiting period and background check, but the right to own a gun should be inviolate.
